This is the long version of how the ship came to be...
It all started with Magic: the Gathering. Everything starts with Magic. LOL.
I'm a big fan of the Honor Harrington universe. I found a site that lets you make custom MtG playmats. I wanted an Honorverse one. So I looked around on DeviantArt and other places and finally found a pic I liked and put some other stuff to it.
In my searching, I noticed a quite a bit of links talking about the Royal Manticoran Navy as if it actually existed. Curiosity got the better of me and I ended up finding the main TRMN page. I immediately signed up. I originally signed up as a Marine on the HMS Starcrest (based out of Iowa.) I was fine where I was.
Then I went over to a friend's house for one of our Magic nights. And I saw this on the counter:
I posted it on the RMN's main Facebook page. The comments were immediately flooded with people saying that I should start a ship in the Omaha area. I switched over to the Navy and started to find the people in my area who were part of the organization but not assigned to a ship. I sent out emails, and heard nothing back. I figured I'd just stay on the Starcrest.
Then one day I walked in to my local game shop. I happened to be wearing my Royal Manticoran Marine Corps shirt. The guy behind the counter saw it and asked if it had to do with the group. I was shocked and amazed to find out that the guy who works at my LGS was one of the strays I was looking for.
With me, him and one of the members of my Magic playgroup- I had enough people to launch a LAC. And here we are.
